The world is developing so fast that we have to learn more to acquire a large amount of knowledge to be able to keep up with that development. So, rote learning or meaningful learning would be better for this case? Which one is more beneficial for us in the long way of learning? Certainly rote learning and meaningful learning are both ways of learning and help us improve my knowledge, they are still very different.

Meaningful learning involves a true understanding of how all pieces of a concept fit together. Knowledge gained as a result of this learning stays for the entire life. It is also constructive, active, and long-lasting. Contrary to rote learning, meaningful learning allows us to get thoroughly into the matter by appealing to our interests.

But it is evident that rote learning becomes a habit for not only adults but also most students. Every child has his own mental level of gaining knowledge, some students learn more easily by rote learning. So we can say that rote learning is helpful for students at some stages of studies.

On the other hand, if rote learning has some advantages at some stages, it still has negative effects on higher levels of education. A person who wants to go ahead in his career, he must understand what he reads, writes or listens. In this fast progressing world, only proper understanding and vast knowledge can push a person on the great heights of his career. And that's why, meaningful learning is more suitable for learning than rote learning.

In a nutshell, rote learning or meaningful learning has its advantage, but the best way of learning is meaningful learning. Because rote learning can give you knowledge for temporary success, but not enough knowledge to succeed for your entire life.
