chờ anh, anh sẽ về trở lại.
chỉ cần em thực sự đợi anh.
hãy chờ, khi em đượm thấm nỗi buồn,
vì những cơn mưa thu vàng hiu hắt.
chờ anh khi tuyết rơi buốt lạnh.
chờ anh khi nắng lửa hè soi.
chờ anh khi những ai khác không chờ,
đã quên ngày hôm qua thả trôi vào quá khứ.
chờ anh, dẫu từ phương xa vời vợi.
những lá thư không được thấy hồi âm.
chờ anh, dẫu cho có những ai mệt mỏi chán chường,
cùng cảnh ngộ như em trong chờ đợi.

chờ anh, anh sẽ về trở lại.
không cần chi lời chúc phúc, đâu em!
anh chỉ cần ai biết đợi chờ bằng cả trái tim.
dẫu thời gian muốn chìm vào quên lãng.
dù mẹ anh, con anh đã hoàn toàn vô vọng.

mặc bạn bè em vì chờ đợi, rã rời.
quây quần quanh em bên bếp lửa.
nâng ly rượu đắng cay, ràn rụa.
tưởng nhớ những linh hồn nơi chiến địa xa xôi.

vượt qua cái chết, xem thường.
mặc ai đó không chờ  nhau đến hồi chung cuộc.
bảo rằng anh: " họa may thôi, mới thoát!"
họ không đợi chờ nên chẳng hiểu gì hơn.
bởi làm sao giữa biển lửa đạn bom.
chỉ bằng việc em chờ,
lại cứu anh thoát chết.
riêng chúng mình, " nhờ đâu anh sống sót?".
chỉ có em và anh  mới hiểu được mà thôi.
rất giản đơn – "chỉ vì em biết đợi", em ơi!
mà không hề giống như ai khác.
